History
The Reform Club was founded in 1836 by the Whig MP Edward Ellice as a forum for radical and reformist political ideas supporting the Reform Act 1832. Its clubhouse, designed by Sir Charles Barry on the model of Rome's Palazzo Farnese, opened on 1 March 1841. It became one of the first all-male clubs to admit women on equal terms, in 1981.
