History
The Garrick Club was established in 1831 at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, as a place where actors and men of refinement could meet on equal terms, and moved to its current Garrick Street premises in 1864. It holds over 1,000 paintings, drawings and sculptures documenting British theatre history. In May 2024 the club voted to admit women as members, accepting a legal opinion that its rules had never explicitly excluded them.
